Technologies that allow both wireless and wired systems to communicate with other devices of the same ability M2M uses a device (such as a sensor or meter) to capture an event (such as temperature, production levels, etc.), which is relayed through a network (wireless, wired or hybrid) to an application (software program), that translates the captured event into meaningful information. Repeatability is usually the most important data.
A human–machine interface or (HMI) touch screen is the apparatus which presents process data to a human operator and through which the human operator controls the process.
HMI is usually linked to the SCADA system's databases and software programs to provide trending, diagnostic data and management information such as, scheduled maintenance procedures, logistic information, detailed schematics for a particular sensor or machine and expert-system troubleshooting guides.
